5 Must-Have Garden Tools

Utility Carts

I will get right to it, before you hurt yourself beginning your backyard project, go out and get you one of these bad boys. They come in all shapes and sizes. There are carts shaped like a wheel barrel but pull like a wagon. They have one like pictured above, that is mess free because its wired material, all the dirt falls through Another plus, is the sides can fold down. This defiantly comes in handy for those big loads of mulch and dirt you have to unload from your vehicle to the backyard.  You can go a step above and get a cart that dumps like a dump truck. There is literally no sense in throwing your back out hauling gardening supplies.

Garden Tool Sets with Organizers

Now this one is cheating a little.  You might as well go for the whole shebang. Go out and get yourself a garden bag with all the hand tools.  You don’t necessarily need to get one that you wear it but it’s nice to have something for keeping your tools organized while working in the yard and for storing away when you aren’t using them.

Shovels

I know you are thinking that a shovel is a shovel, but not all are made equal.  There are many types of shovels for different purposes.  There are trenching shovels, tree planting shovels, snow shovels, serrated shovels, scoop shovels. For our general purposes we just need a good heavy duty round pointed shovel, preferably with a serrated edge for those unexpected roots we will come across. A serrated edge is not necessary, but I tend to use my tools unconventionally, or as my husband would say I abuse them. Let’s just say I’m not allowed to use his tools (insert eyeroll here).

Not all hoses are created equal

A hose is not just a hose anymore. Anyone who’s had to lug a hose across the yard knows it’s a major chore. Then you have to drag it back to the faucet and wrap, and wrap, and wrap it until it is put back on the hanger or neatly against the house. Or if you are like me, I tend to leave sprawled across the grass until I need it again. I use my hose multiple times a day, so it seems so redundant to go through all that trouble of wrapping it back up. One day I was at my grandparents’ house visiting and decided to water my grandmother’s plants. Oh, was my mind blown by their retractable hose contraption that my grandfather bought for my grandmother’s safety. I mean im not elderly and in pretty good shape, but to not have to go through all that trouble of reeling in the hose manually. I’m not technically a millennial, Generation X here, but I tend to get lumped in with that category. Instant gratification is what comes to mind. Let me tell you, if you need instant gratification, you need this in your life. Get yourself a wall mounted retractable hose reel. I promise you will thank me.

Rakes

Let’s talk about rakes. Of course, everyone has a rake. Probably one that has been hanging in your garage since the day you moved in. You haven’t thought twice about it since you bought it. You might even have the handle taped to the rake because you didn’t want to buy another one, it is just a rake.  But have you ever really raked? Not until you have tried one of these  GrouhdsKeeper rakes.  They are magical, making raking so effortless and spreading mulch or dirt, piece of cake.  We all know I’m not a professional by any means, but I feel like one when I’m using my GroundsKeeper rake.  Now you have all the basic tools you need to make that backyard chore or hobby a little easier.  You are very welcome.

Happy Yard-ing
